What Is The NEAR TipBot?
The NEAR TipBot is a decentralized software designed to perform simple financial transactions on the social media application, Telegram. These financial transactions included sending and receiving tips.
That’s right, the act of tipping someone does not solely exist in Web2 restaurants and outlets. The NEAR TipBot allows users to tip each other $NEAR on Telegram, in a few simple steps!
It’s important to know that the NEAR TipBot is currently compatible with sending and receiving tips with wallets registered on the NEAR blockchain. This implies that the scope of NEAR TipBot does not expand to other blockchain ecosystems like Ethereum, Solana and others.
Getting Started With The NEAR TipBot
Before diving into the guide, you will need a Telegram account. If you don’t have one, kindly get started here. The next step in sending or receiving tips through NEAR Tip Bot is to ensure that you have a funded NEAR account. How To Connect Your NEAR Wallet to NEAR TipBot
Step 1
Open your Telegram app on your phone or the extension on your laptop. Go to the search button. Search for nearup_bot. You should find it as shown in the image below.
Step 2
Click on NEAR Bot as shown in the image above. You will be directed to chat with NEAR Bot as shown below.
Step 3
Click on Start. A list of commands would show as provided in the image below. Click on /logintipbot if you wish to proceed with connecting your NEAR account to the bot.
Step 4
After Clicking on /loginTipBot, the next pop-up message will ask you to choose a network. To see the available options, Click on the square-shaped icon. It is situated beside the file sharing icon on the left. Once you are presented with two network options, Click on Mainnet.
Step 5
The next pop-up message will request you to provide your NEAR wallet address. Type your wallet address in the chat box as seen below. The next message from the bot will require you to open a link to connect your NEAR wallet to the NEAR TipBot.
Step 6
Click on the link. You will be redirected automatically to your NEAR wallet to authorize the bot. Authorize the bot by Clicking on Next as shown below.
Step 7
Click on “Connect as shown below. After the success of the connection, you will be redirected back to Telegram to access other features of the NEAR TipBot.
Step 8
After connecting your NEAR wallet to NEAR TipBot, visit your Telegram app. Click on the square-shaped icon and the text it shows. You will receive a message that shows that the connection is successful. The message will also include the features of the NEAR TipBot.
How to Send Tips using NEAR Tip Bot
Step 9
Once you have connected your wallet to the TipBot, you can now receive tips from people. However, if you wish to send tips, you need to deposit $NEAR or DAI tokens to your Deposit. To do that successfully, Click on this link. You will be redirected to the Deposit section of the NEAR TipBot website.
Step 10
Click on Sign In to be redirected to your NEAR wallet page. Connect your wallet to the website. You will be redirected back to the Deposit site. You can deposit as low as 0.1 $NEAR or 0.1 $DAI token.
Step 11
Choose the amount you’d like to use to send tips then Click on Deposit. You will be redirected to your NEAR wallet account to approve the transaction. After the approval is successful, you can view the balance of your deposit as shown below.
Step 12
The next step is to view your deposit on Telegram. Go back to the Telegram chat with the NEAR TipBot, then send /myDeposit as a message. Your balance will be sent immediately as shown below.
Step 13
You are one step away from sending tips. What’s the following action? Go to a Telegram community that has NEAR TipBot like The Official NEAR Telegram Group or Marma J Foundation on Telegram. Reply to a message with the following instructions.
Type /near (amount). It should look like this /NEAR 0.1. You could even add a message after adding the amount. Your final reply should look like this; /NEAR 0.1 welcome, Chloe. A sample is shown in the diagram below.
Step 14
The command you used implies that you just sent 0.1 $NEAR to the designated individual whose message you replied to. You will receive a receipt of the transaction immediately, as shown in the image below.

Step 15
Once you receive a tip via the NEAR TipBot, the next step is to search for the bot as shown in the first image, then Click on “start” If you have not connected your NEAR wallet to the NEAR TipBot, kindly follow the steps above to do that.
Step 16
If your NEAR wallet is already connected to the NEAR Tip Bot, you would have received a notification from the bot. The notification includes the tip amount, the name of the person who tipped you, and the Telegram community where the transaction was initiated. The image below is a sample of the message you would receive.
Step 17
If you wish to view your tips balance, kindly click on /myTips to view the balance. If you have been tipped, the total balance will be sent automatically.
Step 18
If you would like to withdraw your tips to your NEAR account, use the command /withdraw. Your tips balance will be sent to your wallet immediately.
Step 19
Check your NEAR wallet balance or recent activity to confirm the transaction.
