On Saturday, August 21, 2021, NPA Canada had its inaugural Golf Tournament at Harmony Creek Golf Center in Oshawa, Ontario, Canada. This tournament was made possible by its generous sponsors especially the Marma J Foundation, who sponsored the gift bags for the tournament as well as sponsoring seven Marma J associates to attend the tournament. The tournament was a great success; it was well attended, and everyone had a great time.
It was a great opportunity for NPA Canada to network with the community as well as raise some money to sponsor some of its initiatives such as the Youth Essay Contest and the Adopt a Family Program. The Youth Essay Contest is a contest that NPA Canada runs each year in which the organization solicits input from local African Canadian youth on how the community can assist them to prepare for the future. The Adopt a Family Program is a program in which each year, depending on funding, NPA Canada picks a family or two from one of the local housing communities and provides some much-needed gifts for the family at Christmas time. Both these programs are run by NPA Canada’s Education Committee.
NPA Canada wants to sincerely thank the Marma J Foundation for its support of the golf tournament. It was great to see so many people come to an event like this and meet new people, try a new sport and most of all to have fun while supporting a good cause. These are examples of ways that organizations can work together and help each other reach their goals! #TeamWorkMakesTheDreamWork
