Lights, Camera, VRM Action: Capturing Your VR Adventures and Creations
In this tutorial, I’ll use the Virtu App for it’s the only mobile VR application that has full-body movement without using any body tracking devices. Also, it’s available on Windows, iOS, and Android devices, which is accessible, convenient, and easy to use. Below is a general guide on how to record MarmaJchan VRM model content on the Virtu App:
Upload MarmaJchan VRM model
- Visit marmaj.org/marmajchan/#vrm, click on the “Download VRM models” button, and save it to a folder. (note: don’t forget to uncompress the file)
- Open Virtu App, open the avatar panel and click the “Plus” button.
- Find the MarmaJchan VRM file on your phone, and click it!
Customize MarmaJchan VRM model
By clicking the MarmaJchan VRM model, you can adjust, move, and rotate her.
Better Quality Video
- To make your video better quality, go to the “settings” button.
- Click on the “advanced setting”.
- On the shader setting, change the following:
- Texture Size: 2048
- Resolution: 1170 x 2532
- Video Quality: Max
Recording Videos
- Press and hold the shutter button to start taking the video. You can release the button to keep recording.
- Once you’re done with your content, click the button again to stop recording, then click the small check beside the button.
- Click on the button again to download your video.
Add Props
- On the right side corner, you will see the “head props”, the “mask”, and the “hand props” buttons.
- Choose an image or add a 3D object.
- You can detach all props.
Adjust Facial Expression
- Click on the “Expression” button.
- Adjust the slider of expression you want to edit.
Change Background
- On the left side, click on the “background” button.
- You can choose a background or add your own.
- You can adjust the background by clicking the background photo.
Hide UI
For video and photo
You can hide all UIs by simply pressing the “Hide” button on the right bottom corner. You can press the button again to show the UIs again.
Set a Timer
For taking photos
You can set a shutter timer with a “clock icon” in the upper right corner. Choose one of 3 or 10, then tap the Shutter button to start the timer.
Make MarmaJchan VRM Model Dance
- Click the “gesture” button.
- Choose one gesture to make the MarmaJchan VRM model dance! (note: they also have poses)
- Click the “stop” button to make the movement stop.
Other Features
The Virtu app has many features that you can use when making your videos with the MarmaJchan VRM model. Here are some of the extra things you can do:
- You can add music (select music or extract audio from video)
- Adding a photo is also available by clicking the “media” button.
- You can make a duet too! Click the “duet” button, choose which avatar you want to duet with the MarmaJchan VRM model, and change gestures like they’re both dancing together!
